Emily Deardorff joined the University of North Texas System in February 2020 and currently serves as the associate vice chancellor for Governmental Relations. In this role, Ms. Deardorff provides state fiscal policy counsel toward the development, implementation, and oversight for Government Relations and Strategy initiatives across all institutions in the University of North Texas System.

Previously, Ms. Deardorff served as the assistant vice chancellor for Governmental Relations for The University of Texas System. In this position, she was responsible for appropriations related issues that impacted The University of Texas System Administration and each of its academic and health institutions. Ms. Deardorff previously served as a higher education budget analyst at the Legislative Budget Board and was responsible for working with institutions and the Texas Legislature to develop state budget recommendations for institutions of higher education.

Ms. Deardorff earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Austin College and her Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin.

Ms. Deardorff and her husband Phil live in Austin with their son Ben, daughter Ida, and dog Owen.
